Normally, Novi High band and orchestra students participate in a festival known as Solo and Ensemble, where they perform for an adjudicator as an individual or small group. After a superior rating at Districts, they may perform at States. A superb performance at States earns them a nomination to the Michigan School Band And Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Honors Ensemble, which has traditionally been held as a part of the Michigan Youth Arts Festival.

This year, students were offered the opportunity to submit a video performance to the state Solo and Ensemble festival.  A total of 23 Novi High students were recognized for outstanding performances this year (essentially their nomination to the Honors Ensembles).
